"Super Festive" ceramics by Ninainvorm

A beautiful set of “super festive” ceramics by Ninainvorm

Nina is a Dutch designer who loves all things craft, ceramics and fashion related. As well as being a creative herself, she’s also a prolific blogger, who loves to write about beautiful things worth sharing with her followers. Her posts vary from things that inspire her on a day to day basis to her new ceramic works.

In this post I want to feature Nina’s “Super Festive” serving sets. I love the illustrative nature of her work which tells a mini story across the surface of the crockery she designs.

As well as creating new pieces, she also chooses to decorate recycled plates, jugs and bowls too. These pieces gain a new lease of life and combine her illustration with more traditional surface patterns found on the service wear.

Take a look at more of Nina’s work on her blog and online shop.

Mrs Sparkle's Boutique paper wreath

A beautiful embellished paper wreath by Mrs Sparkle’s Boutique

Well I’m over half way now, only another 12 days to go until the big day!

My 13th posts is dedicated to these unique paper wreathes I spotted by Mrs Sparkle’s Boutique.

Mrs Sparkle’ Boutique sells a fantastic collection of paper wreaths, soft furnishings, stationery and much more. Their  wreaths are on sale all year round and would make perfect party decorations, as well as Christmas trimmings.

The wreathes remind me of paper chains decorations we used to make at Primary School. They are brimming with colour and each loop is carefully placed to give a sumptuous appearance.

Here are more pictures of their work:

A handmade gadget sleeve to keep my phone cosy this Christmas

Gadget Sleeve by Suezybees

If anyone’s looking for a gadget sleeve as a gift, look no further! Check out these amazing pieces by Suezybees. They feature lots of diffeent designs, but may favourites have to be her “Tweet Felt” sleeves.

Many of Suezybees designs are one off pieces and no two are ever the same. Sue uses a number of techniques to produce her work, including machine and hand embroidery, applique, and print.

Using patterned fabric and details such as buttons, felts and coloured cottons, creates cute compositions on these versatile little covers. They’d be perfect for phones, cameras and MP3 players.

Below are a selection of her sleeve designs.

Bobbie Print - "12 Days of Christmas" card designs

A beautiful selection of Bobbie Print Christmas cards

When I saw these illustrations by Bobbie Print on Flickr I knew I had to blog about them. Not only are they stunning illustrations but they are also inspired by the “12 Days of Christmas” song too.

The cards are illustrated by Victoria Oatway, who works as a full time textile design in Glasgow, Scotland. She creates gorgeous prints and patterns and admits that she has help from her four legged friend, Misty! Most of her designs end up as printed greeting cards like the ones below.

The “12 Days of Christmas” song, lends itself perfectly to the way Victoria works with its repetitive verses and very visual narrative.

 Jimjam Designs

A selection of Jimjam Designs Christmas cards

I’m loving Jimjam’s cards this year. They’re fun, stylish and use lots of stitch embroidery. My favourite are the assorted fabric Christmas trees below. The simple shapes and subtle embellishments, whether it be beads, spotty fabric or silver cotton trunks, create colourful compositions on the felt and hessian backgrounds.

Jeff Josephine Designs

A delightful ceramic heart necklace by Jeff Josephine Designs

Sophie Elm is the ceramic designer and illustrator behind the work of Jeff Josephine Designs. We studied together on our foundation course and once finished, we then tootled on our separate ways to University. It was only in our final year that we bumped into one another again at D&AD.

Sophie’s work has developed since then, and she is now producing lots of illustrated ceramic wear such as tiles, cups and necklaces. As well as this, she has also illustrated 2 books, creates screen printed fabric designs, greeting cards and exhibits her work around the UK.

In this post I want to talk about her ceramic heart necklaces. They come in all kinds of patterns and no two are ever the same as she paints these by hand. They’d make perfect gifts, and I think they’d look great as Christmas tree decorations.

Take a look at some of Sophie’ designs below.

Kirsty Elson Designs

A Kirsty Elson Mistletoe Robin

If you saw my blog post in the summer which featured Kirsty’s work, you may be familiar with her gorgeous drift wood greeting cards and handmade wall and celling hangings.

Below is a selection of her Christmas card range made from tiny pieces of wood, twigs, beads and fabric. The small pieces of drift wood, once carefully fitted together, create wonderful naive shapes which resemble robins, reindeers and Christmas puds.

As well as her Christmas cards, she has also been busy creating hanging decorations for the tree and fireplace. Here is a selection of her poker dot penguins, perched robins and patchwork Christmas trees.

On the 1st day of Christmas my true love gave to me….

Kate Slater Illustration

A beautiful ‘birdy broach’ made by the fabulous Kate Slater.

These vibrant ‘bird brooches’ would be a great gift for any feathery-friend fanatics. I was lucky enough to receive the ‘Waxwing Brooch’ for my birthday this year.

Kate Slater Illustration

Each ‘brooch’ is hand-made by Kate in her studio in Staffordshire and she has created a variety of birds from Parrots and Flamingoes to Owls and Kingfishers. The colours are amazing and her use of collage creates feathery textures galore!

Here are a few close up shots of some of my favourites.

As well as making these badges, Kate is also a brilliant illustrator, and you can see more of her work on her website. She also has an Etsy shop where you can have a gander at some of her latest Christmas gifts. Enjoy!

Pieminister packaging

Pieminister packaging

I was wandering around the super market last week trying to choose a nice meal for one (Rob was busy at work that night!) when I spotted a very delicious bit of packaging design on the shelf of the cold food section. It was Pieministers “Shamrock Pie” with its clover green and black box! It jumped out at me instantly!

I love the use of type, illustration and die cutting which creates a lovely little window though to the pie itself.

The packaging is well branded and includes celeb chef testimonials, Twitter and Facebook links, the awards they have won and a bit about the founders, Jon and Tristan.

These pies defiantly pack a punch in the packaging department and they are uber tasty too!
