We all live in yellow submarines

We all live in yellow submarines illustration

Here’s a new illustration I have been working on over the past few weeks. It’s inspired by the Beatle’s song “We all live in a yellow submarine” which has been stuck in my head for weeks. I decided it was time to do something with it, so I produced this!

Tea Cosy illustration

Tea Cosy illustration

Here’s a new tea related illustration I thought up today! It’s kind of based around the words “tea cosy” which inspired me to illustrate a cup of tea tucked up in bed with a few biscuits thrown in for good measure!

It’s quite a cosy scene, and I wanted to use pastel shades with the main colours coming from the tea and biscuits. I couldn’t miss the chance to illustrate a few of my favourite dunk-able treats. Here we have the Bourbon, Digestive and Custard Cream in all their glory.

"Brighten up your brew" illustration

Today, I sat down and did this little illustration inspired by a good cuppa tea! The weather has been great this weekend and it made me all warm inside (like a good brew should!). Hope you like it!

Top Left Design’s January Newsletter – Make Do And Mend!

Top Left Design’s January Newsletter – Make Do And Mend!

Yesterday Top Left Design sent out their January newsletter (just in time!).

The theme was “Make Do And Mend” and I created the illustrate for the banner this month! I wanted to show the idea of mending something that was old or broken, so the iPad was a perfect choice.

The newsletter talks about “8 free, or almost free ways to improve your presence online”. This could be anything from updating your vanity URL on LinkedIn to going through your website and making a “snagging list” of changes you’d love see.

You can read Top Left Design’s January newsletter here for more tips.

Here’s a close up of the full illustration I created.

I also designed the footer for the newsletter too.

A Christmas card design by yours truly

This year I decided to explore the theme of  ”The 12 Days of Christmas”. Before I even started on this series of blog posts I had designed my 2011 Christmas cards inspired by the rhyme.

Here are the 3 small illustrations that make up the final card. I especially liked the idea of illustrating the birds including the partridge in a pair tree, 2 turtle doves and 3 French hens.

Hope you like them!

London

Last weekend I created my “London” illustration as a gift for Keren at Top Left Design. It was her birthday this week and I thought it would be nice to create a bespoke illustration for the wall in the office.

Below are some images of the piece.

Anything is edible to seagulls

Last weekend I came back from a relaxing trip down to Cornwall.

Anyone who has walked around some of the costal towns there will have surely  seen the seagulls that watch over your every move.

Seagulls, particlauly down in St Ives, are real scavendures and will pinch pasties, ice creams and sandwiches from the hands of holiday goers while they enjoy their lunch on the harbour front.

I decided to do this illustration with them in mind as I believe they will eat almost anything they can get their beaks on!

Hope you like it. I am hoping to make a few more in this series soon.

“Oranges and lemons say the bells of St. Clement’s”

I’m not sure if this will be lost on a few people but I thought it would be a funny illustration anyway!

Does anyone remember playing “Oranges and lemons” at school? It’s was (or maybe still is) a game where two people stand with their hands in a steeple shape and a line of children would take it in turns to go under their arms. When the two people (standing with their hands up) had reached the end of the song where it says “Chip chop chip chop” they would snap down their arms and whoever was caught between them was out.

Happy memories!!

Well to cut a long story short this illustration was inspred by that very game.

I thought it would be funny to have an orange and lemon playing the game together. However as oranges and lemons are such round fruits there little arms can’t meet in the middle to form the steeple shape. Shame!
