<p>This bank holiday weekend me and Rob went along to the <a href="http://duxford.iwm.org.uk/" target="_blank">Imperial War Museum, Duxford</a>. The museum is known for being the European centre of aviation history and is home to an arey of flying machines from Spitfires, Lancaster Bombers to American combat aircrafts and masses more.</p>
<p>It was a shame that today, of all days, I forgot to take my camera. This means I cant share with you any of the great illustrations/art work I saw painted on the sides of the planes. Shucks!</p>
<p>Instead, at the end of the day I did have a wander around the gift shop and found these great war posters form the 1940&#8242;s. I love the quirky messages and bold typography, as well as the use of colour and iconic 1940&#8242;s illustration conveying the strong messages of the times.</p>

<p>I was lucky enough to have the work of &#8220;<a href="http://www.ilikesleeping.com/" target="_blank">I Like Sleeping</a>&#8221; shown to me by <a href="http://twitter.com/topleftdesign" target="_blank">@topleftdesign</a> the other week and I instantly loved it!</p>
<p>&#8220;I Like Sleeping&#8221; is the brain child of illustrator Hanako Clulow and her work is a mixture of collage, hand drawings, stitch and much more.</p>
<p>Her nieve style of illustration is character-full and compelling and her use of textures through different mediums (print, paint, pencil etc) gives depth to her work.</p>
<p>I adore her bear pieces in particular.</p>
<p><span id="more-1086"></span></p>
<p><a href="http://tinawebsterillustration.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/hana1.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1105" title="Illustration by Hanako Clulow " src="http://tinawebsterillustration.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/hana1.jpg" alt="" width="414" height="492" /></a></p>
<p><a href="http://tinawebsterillustration.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/hana2.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1106" title="Illustration by Hanako Clulow " src="http://tinawebsterillustration.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/hana2.jpg" alt="" width="414" height="487" /></a></p>
<p>As well as her more traditional ways of working Hanako has also developed a series of illustrations made out of felt! The series again features her delightful bears dressed up in different costumes from Beefeater attire to traditional Tudor dress.</p>
<p><a href="http://tinawebsterillustration.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/hana11.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1122" title="Illustration by Hanako Clulow " src="http://tinawebsterillustration.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/hana11.jpg" alt="" width="414" height="488" /></a></p>
<p><a href="http://tinawebsterillustration.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/hana21.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1124" title="Illustration by Hanako Clulow " src="http://tinawebsterillustration.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/hana21.jpg" alt="" width="414" height="486" /></a></p>

<p>I got to know about this great little shop/website after seeing Keren&#8217;s face (of Top Left Design) light up after she had bought a few pieces from their Liverpool Street store.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.waldopancake.com/" target="_blank">Waldo Pancake</a>, not only has a great name but also sells the coolest stationary, greeting cards, bags and house wear I have seen for a while!</p>
<p>The products are usually brightly coloured and use lots of dry humor. The rather rounded typeface also adds to the over all quirkiness of each item on sale.</p>
<p>Some of the sentences on the items use sarcasm and even satire to generate a belly laugh from the lucky receiver of one of their products.</p>
<p>Have a gander at their <a href="http://www.waldopancake.com/" target="_blank">website</a> and also see some pics of their products taken from their site below.</p>

<p>I was lucky enough to have this great <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wF8f8w6HPoo&amp;feature" target="_blank">You Tube clip</a> sent to me last week by the lovely Amy at <a href="http://www.topleftdesign.com/" target="_blank">Top Left Design</a>. It shows a cool typographic animation of a scene from the film <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0110912/" target="_blank">Pulp Fiction</a>.</p>
<p>Take a look at the clip above and some stills from the animation below:</p>

<p>The <a href="http://www.biscuiteers.com/" target="_blank">Biscuiteers</a> website is not only anoter great design by the guys and gals at <a href="http://www.bigfish.co.uk/" target="_blank">Big Fish</a>, but the concept is fab too!</p>
<p>&#8220;Why send flowers when you can send biscuits?&#8221;.</p>
<p>What a great idea! If you have a gift to send, why not make it buscuits that your friends and family can enjoy over a nice cuppa Rosie Lee (tea, for those of you not acquaint to cockney rhyming slang!).</p>
<p>However, even I would find it hard to dunk these beauties.</p>
<p>The guys at <a href="http://www.biscuiteers.com/" target="_blank">Biscuiteers</a> can bake up a storm (literally if you wanted) and create biscuits in all shapes, themes and colours.</p>
<p>They have designs such as &#8220;Udles of Poodles&#8221;, &#8220;New kid on the block&#8221;, &#8220;Green Fingers&#8221;, &#8220;Flower Power&#8221; and so on!</p>
<p>Here are a few pics of their delicious looking biscuits.</p>
<p><a href="http://tinawebsterillustration.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/bis2.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-991" title="Biscuiteers biscuits " src="http://tinawebsterillustration.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/bis2.jpg" alt="" width="414" height="521" /></a></p>
<p>So the next time you have a gift to buy, think of the guys at Bisciteers and their lovely treats!</p>

<p>The good people at <a href="http://www.bigfish.co.uk/" target="_blank">Big Fish</a> saw my blog post &#8220;<a href="http://tinawebsterillustration.com/2010/03/27/time-for-tea-and-cereal/" target="_self">Time for tea and cereal</a>&#8221; and left a lovely comment. They mentioned that I should take a look at a couple of websites they thought I might like. The first was the <a href="http://www.tggreen.co.uk/" target="_blank">Cornishware by T.G. Green &amp; Co</a> site .</p>
<p>Big Fish designed the website and there are some lovely touches to it. Such as the <a href="http://www.tggreen.co.uk/gift-service" target="_blank">gift service page</a> which uses illustrations to show what pieces of Cornishware you receive in each set. The illustrations are very simple and use minimal amounts of mark making to illustrate the items on sale.</p>
<p><a href="http://tinawebsterillustration.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/info11.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-956" title="Cornishware by T.G. Green &amp; Co. website by Big Fish" src="http://tinawebsterillustration.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/info11.jpg" alt="" width="414" height="519" /></a></p>
<p>I also love the use of rustic photography in the site as they really place emphasis on the blue&#8217;s and creams of the ceramics in the shots.</p>
<p><a href="http://tinawebsterillustration.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/pics.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-963" title="Cornishware by T.G. Green &amp; Co. pictures from the website" src="http://tinawebsterillustration.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/pics.jpg" alt="" width="414" height="516" /></a></p>
<p>In conclusions the Cornishware by T.G. Green &amp; Co. website is a great example of design and shows a unique way of using informational graphics in a site too. They also have some lovely ceramics in the range, so be sure to <a href="http://www.tggreen.co.uk/" target="_blank">drop by the site</a> soon!</p>

<p>As soon as I heard there was going to be a 3rd Toy Story I new I had to see it! So me and Rob went along to the cinema (which was packed BTW) on Wednesday to check it out.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s a great film with lots of laughter, some tears, a fantastic cast and great animation.</p>
<p>However I&#8217;m not going to blog about Toy Story 3 today, I really want to tell you about Pixar&#8217;s short animation at the start of the film, called &#8220;<a href="http://www.pixar.com/shorts/d&amp;n/index.html" target="_blank">Day &amp; Night</a>&#8220;.</p>
<p>As soon as we&#8217;d watched it we fell in love with the simple tale and concept!</p>
<p>The short story is about 2 characters created in 2D. The background for the whole animation is in black and the characters are &#8220;cut out&#8221; of this. Inside their bodies is a wonderful 3D word showing the same scene in day and night.</p>
<p>The sunny character is a happy chappie while night is more grumpy and slow to react. When the 2 meet it becomes a battle of &#8220;mine&#8217;s better that yours&#8221; and each character competes to show the best of their time of day.</p>
<p>The concept seems simple when you watch it but is difficult to explain properly so here is a clip of the directors trying to tell us what the tale is about:</p>
<p><object width="414" height="253"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/wFEE-Jgr7sw&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/wFEE-Jgr7sw&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="414" height="253"></embed></object></p>
<p>In short, if you&#8217;re going to see Toy Story 3 then you&#8217;re going to see Day &amp; Night! I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!</p>
